Dear CAGTC Members,
On September 22, House leadership continued negotiations on the CR and FAST Act extension bill in an effort to gain Republican and White House support for the package. They ultimately reached an agreement, introducing the package under a new bill number, H.R. 8337. The bill passed the House with bipartisan support by a vote of 359-57 (56 Republicans and one Independent voted against the bill and one Democrat voted present). The full text can be found here.
There were no changes to the CR and surface transportation authorization extension components of the bill. Instead the new package included additional funding for nutrition assistance programs (a Democratic priority) and farm aid provisions requested by the White House.
The bill has been sent to the Senate which is expected to vote on and pass the measure this week. It will then proceed to President Trump’s desk for approval.
