Ray Traynor

Ray Traynor serves as Chief Planning & Innovation Officer at the San Diego Association of Governments (SANDAG). In this role Ray is driving the development of new vision for the future of transportation in the San Diego region. Previously, Ray was responsible for leading SANDAG's Toll Operations, which includes the SR 125 South Bay Expressway and the Interstate 15 Express Lanes, and the smart mobility program, including intelligent Transportation Systems and Demand Management.

Prior to joining SANDAG in 2012, Ray served as Vice President General Manager of Axiom xCell, a global software development company; and earlier, Ray was a Product Manager at Novatel Wireless (now Inseego), a global provider of solutions for the Internet of Things and fleet telematics markets. Early in his career, Ray served as a Program Manager at Caltrans where he led, among other things, the California/Mexico Border Program.

Ray holds an M.B.A. from San Diego State University, and a bachelor's degree in landscape architecture from Cal Poly San Luis Obispo.
