04/28/17 CAGTC: Federal Government Funded through 5/ 5, EPW Hearing Scheduled for 5/3

CAGTC Members,

I am writing today with two updates:

  • Both the House and the Senate passed the “Making further continuing appropriations for fiscal year 2017, and other purposes” joint resolution today. H.J. Res. 99 funds the federal government through May 5, 2017 to give Congress more time to pass a full fiscal year 2017 (FY17) appropriations bill. It is anticipated that President Trump will sign this most recent CR into law this afternoon.  FY17 began on October 1, 2016 and this is the third CR Congress has passed. As a reminder, a full year package is required in order for the U.S. Department of Transportation to have funding for the FASTLANE grant program, which would then enable them to make awards. We will keep you updated as the appropriations process continues next week. You can find the full text of the CR online here.
  • The Senate Committee on Environment and Public Works will hold a hearing titled “Infrastructure Project Streamlining and Efficiency: Achieving Faster, Better, and Cheaper Results” on Wednesday, May 3. The hearing will take place at 10 am and will be held in room 406 of the Dirksen Senate Office Building. A full witness list and a live stream of the hearing will be found online here when available. CAGTC will send out a summary of relevant conversation after the hearing’s conclusion.

Best,
