03/23/18 CAGTC: Congress Passes FY18 Omnibus, Keeps $1.5 Billion for TIGER

CAGTC Members,

Yesterday afternoon the House voted 256-167 to pass the full fiscal year 2018 (FY18) omnibus package. Early this morning, the Senate followed and passed the bill by a vote of 65-32. Around 1:30pm Eastern today, it was reported that President Trump signed the bill into law, despite threats that he was going to veto the legislation.

Of significance to our CAGTC members, Congress recognized the vital importance of TIGER grants and tripled funding for the multimodal program. They also codified CAGTC’s long-held position that projects should be selected using objective, merit-based criteria, not solely on their request for a small portion of Federal funding relative to project size.  Please find the press release we issued celebrating these actions here.

Thank you,
