5/25/18 CAGTC: Summary of 5/24 BUILD Webinar

CAGTC Members,

Yesterday, USDOT hosted a webinar titled “How to compete for FY 2018 BUILD Transportation Discretionary Grants.” During the webinar, Robert Mariner, Deputy Director of the Office of Infrastructure Finance and Innovation, Office of the Secretary, Office of Policy,  provided a summary of the changes USDOT made to the BUILD (formerly TIGER) program. USDOT officials then spent about an hour and a half answering questions for webinar attendees. Please find a summary of the webinar here, as well as the presentation provided by USDOT here. Below, please find some key takeaways.

  • Mariner noted that while the obligation deadline indicated in the NOFO is September 30, 2020, applicants should aim for June 30, 2020;
  • USDOT does not anticipate that the benefit cost analysis (BCA) guidelines will differ greatly from last year’s and predicated that they would be released in the next few weeks;
  • Award announcements will be made by December 18, 2018 at the latest; and
  • USDOT will host additional webinars regarding Rural/Tribal applicants on May 29 and on Preparing a BCA analysis on May 31. You can find more information, such as registration links and recordings of pervious webinars, online here.

Thank you,
